Application Deadline: September 13, 2018 Description: Students will learn such skills and qualities as becoming outgoing, service-oriented, patient, friendly, and comfortable in crowds. Service Excellence and Leadership Interns at the Aquarium of the Pacific are in many ways the “face” of our Aquarium. The Service Excellence And Leadership Internship (S.E.A.L.) requires 80 hours of service delivered in 8 hour shifts, once per week for 10 weeks. VolunTEEN

Grade: Age 14-16
Application Deadline: September 25, January 29, April 29 Description: VolunTEENS are trained to interpret to our guests about the Aquarium, its inhabitants and ecosystem. Fall and spring session VolunTEENS are on-site for 8 hours each weekend for ten weekends. Our summer session for VolunTEENS is two days a week for five hours each day for eight weeks. The Valley Economic Alliance Annual Hackathon

Application Deadline: Oct 9, 2017 Description: The Valley Economic Alliance is hosting its third Valley Hackathon on Friday, October 13th from 9am-5pm at the Glendale Public Library’s Auditorium. High school and college students are invited to come together to develop concepts and usable solutions to a challenge that is revealed at the technology focused competition. Students will also have the opportunity to network with apprenticeship sponsors at the event, who are offering internship opportunities to applicable candidates. Application Deadline: January 31, 2018 Description: Girls On Ice is an expedition for teenage female students that get the chance to learn about glaciers and the alpine or marine environment. Students are provided access to STEM coursework and access to mentors, role models and support networks. Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies on Catalina Island, and other coastal sites. Over the course of a week, students get amazing opportunities to work with local researchers, conduct their own research projects, learn about careers in marine science, build their own ROVs, snorkel, kayak, and explore the marine protected areas around the island.
