Who can apply?
- High school Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors in LA County, at least 16 years of age, in good academic standing.
- Preference will be given to
- SLATE-Z Students
- SOUTH LA Students
- High need students who are high school Juniors going into their Senior year.
- Preference will be given to
- Available to work for a minimum of 4 weeks for 15 hours per week during the summer. Schedules vary per company.
- DACA or undocumented students.
- Formerly or currently in a foster youth program.
- Recent high school graduates who are at least 18 years old. Must be a recent high school graduate and college bound.

3. A video of no more than 2 minutes in length answering the questions below. You are welcome to make this as creative as you like! Please watch the video below for tips on how to make a great application video.

1. A resume that includes your name, email address, phone number, home address, cumulative GPA, current school, leadership experience/extracurricular activities, any previous work/internship/volunteer experience, and skills/interests. What questions will be asked in the application?
You will be asked to provide basic personal information about yourself and your school. Additionally, you will be asked to submit a resume with a list of any leadership experiences or extracurricular involvement, previous work, internship, or volunteer experiences that are relevant to your primary or secondary career field of interest, and references. You will also be asked to write one (1) short response essay and may choose from one of the prompts below:
SHORT RESPONSE ESSAY (350 words max)
Prompt 1: Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time..
Prompt 2: Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
Prompt 3: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? What steps did you have to take to overcome this challenge, setback, or failure.

- Our application is split into 2 parts. Part 1 is a general written application that asks for demographic information, interests & why, and for personal responses. After completing and submitting part 1, please check your submittable account for part 2 of the application, the video portion, where you can upload the video about yourself answering the questions given. If you are having difficulties submitting part 2 on your submittable account, please submit your video link here
- We recommend writing your essays in Word or Google Doc so that you can save, edit, spell check, and be able to access them in the future.
- Submit the following application materials through your Submittable account. Please submit part 1 & Part 2 of the application by March 25th, 2022 at 11:59pm PST (CLOSED)
- Only applicants that complete & submit both parts (part 1 & part 2) of the application will be considered for review.
